The Art of Pointillism
Pointillism is a technique where drawings are rendered using only dots, or stipples as they are called. How light or dark an area is depends upon the size of the stipples used and their proximity to each other. The process is time consuming, but the final effect is worth the effort.
The enlarged portion of the image below is a good demonstration of this.

I was first introduced to this technique while a Sophomore in High School, and I instantly fell in love with it. I have been employing this technique in my art for nearly forty years now.
Typically, the average drawing takes between sixteen to twenty-four hours of actual stippling, done over a month's time, to complete. My current body of work represents well over a thousand hours of stippling.
